Record in the field
Each participant runs the TraceSystem app on a phone. It logs GPS position, heading and audio. An optional camera unit adds video, and audio from its own microphone.
PHONE + OPTIONAL CAMERA UNITTraceSystem records where every participant moves, what their camera sees and what is said on the radio during an exercise. Afterwards, you replay all of it on one map and timeline in the debrief.
This animation follows one fictional exercise, from pairing the devices to the debrief. It shows the idea in use in the field. It is not the product’s interface.
You can try the debrief tool itself further down the page.
Each participant carries a phone running TraceSystem. An optional camera unit on the helmet or weapon pairs with the phone over Bluetooth.
Three steps, from the start of the exercise to the end of the debrief.

PHONE + OPTIONAL CAMERA UNITWhen devices are back on Wi-Fi, recordings upload. Each device’s GPS time puts them on the same timeline.
AUTOMATIC TIME ALIGNMENTReplay the exercise on a map. Pick a participant to see their route and camera, listen to radio calls, and add notes at key moments.
MAP, TIMELINE AND NOTESToday, most debriefs rely on memory and a few notes. Accounts differ, timings are guesses, and it is hard to show who was where when something happened. TraceSystem gives instructors and teams a factual record to review together.
Each participant’s GPS position and route, logged every second.
PHONE · GPSWhich way the device is pointing. This is not the same as where the person is looking.
DEVICE COMPASSFirst-person video from an optional helmet- or weapon-mounted camera unit.
CAMERA UNITRadio calls and speech, recorded on the same clock as everything else.
PHONE + UNIT MICROPHONEMoments marked during the exercise, and notes added by the instructor afterwards.
APP + DEBRIEF TOOLTraceSystem starts as a phone app. We are also exploring a small camera unit with a built-in microphone. It mounts on a helmet or weapon rail and pairs with the phone over Bluetooth.
This is the product concept: the tool an instructor would use on a tablet in the debrief. It replays the same fictional exercise as the animation above. Press play, drag the timeline, or select a participant to see their camera and GPS position.

Not yet. TraceSystem is at the concept stage, and there is no release date. The demo on this page uses fictional data.
A phone with the TraceSystem app. An optional camera unit for the helmet or weapon rail, with its own microphone, would add video and audio, paired to the phone over Bluetooth. The hardware design is still open. See the options above.
GPS is less accurate indoors. There, positions would be estimated and clearly marked as estimates. Better indoor positioning is one of the open questions.
We are investigating speech detection and transcription, so that radio traffic can be searched. These are not features yet. The original recordings would always be kept.
Recording real exercises requires participants’ permission, access control and clear rules for how long data is kept. These are part of the design from the start. This website records nothing.
If you run or instruct field training, email contact@tracesystem.dev. We would like to hear how you debrief today and what you would need. Danish and English are both welcome.
We are looking for instructors and training units to help test and shape the product.
